Solar ATAP is SEDA's rooftop solar programme that replaced NEM 3.0 from 1 January 2026. It works on a self-consumption-first basis — you use your solar power directly, then export any surplus to the TNB grid for credits, with no national quota so applications stay open. For homes, surplus is offset at the prevailing retail tariff (around RM0.27/kWh, or RM0.37/kWh above 1,500 kWh per month); commercial users are credited at the System Marginal Price (SMP) and may install up to 100% of their maximum demand. Credits are settled monthly under a 10-year contract.
